Happy 18th Birthday John!

Thought there are many miles between us on this special day please know I am there with you even though it is only in thoughts and in my heart. I am beside you throught out your special day as I have been there through out your life. My son.....what a special man you are and how proud of you I am.

I knew a head of time that I was going to have a son and I had a special t-shirt made that said, "It's a boy!" with a arrow pointing to my stomach. I wore that shirt with such pride! I already had a daughter and now I would have my son, my last child that I knew I could have. All I asked was that you were healthy. I had a scheduled cesarian section as I could not deliever you naturally. I had a spinal block so I could not feel any pain and I was awake during the delivery. I remember so well that when they were removing you from me the nurses all said, "Oh my god, what a big baby!" I thought for sure I had delivered godzilla! How tiny you were! Ten fingers and toes and in perfect health. We couldn't of asked for more.

Later you had so many ear infections that you had to have many operations to have tubes put into your ears. I bought you a Micky Mouse the first time that you went into the hospital and I told you that the doctor was going to operate on Micky's ears too and you took Micky each and every time with you to the hospital and he was your favorite toy. Due to your ear infections for awhile you had hearing loss. So frustrated and mad you got trying to communicate and talk as you lost your hearing at a vital point in your life. We spent many years going to speach therapy and when the insurance would no longer cover the cost I was taught how to be your speach therapist and I continued on working with you to each you how to talk and over come your difficulties. Each day we "played" and sang songs which stimulated your speach. You overcame it all, the determination you showed even as a young child was remarkable and I am very proud of you.
